Staying Grounded with the Earth Element over the Holidays

Dear Friends,
Today my heart is filled with love for each and every one of you, as I'm grateful for the time you take to read my blog!  May this Christmas season fill your home with joy, your heart with love and your life with laughter. 
Indeed, since I began posting blog entries in 2012, my healing journey continues unfolding.  My hope is that you're finding my writing to be relevant to your own path towards wellbeing, whatever your life circumstances may be.
Elemental healing has become a frequent theme in my healing journey.  I'm always amazed by what happens when I simply shift my focus towards the energies of the nature surrounding me where I live.  To access these energies simply means spending time alone, or with others, outdoors in a natural setting.  It's all there for us to enjoy.  With the simple action of appreciating the qualities of Earth, Air, Water, Fire and Space, I can bring the beneficial energies they offer into my own life.
Today I'd like to talk about the qualities of the Earth Element in the context of the holiday season.  After all, this is the season when we re-enforce our connection with our family and friends, re-connect with people who we may not see often, or establish new connections with others.  Experiencing a connection to the Earth Element allows us to connect with our sense of presence.  When we embody the stability and grounding energy of the Earth Element, connections with others happen easily and bring us joy. 
Sometimes our connection with another is challenging, or no longer as strong as before.  Having a felt sense of groundedness will help and support us as we adjust our connection according to the circumstances.  Having a connection with the Earth Element in our lives enables us to stay focused on what's truly important to us. We can be compassionate with our own Selves, as well as of others whom we find challenging, and thus, celebrate the season with positive and loving intentions.  If we stay present and grounded, we can shift our focus from what's going wrong to what's going right, and spare ourselves the discomfort of facing external factors we can't control and can ultimately take away our inner joy.
Thus, I invite you to go outdoors today with a new focus on the Earth energies.  Pay attention to each step you take upon the ground, focus upon the energy that is below your feet and take it in.  If you're able, find a quiet place to sit on the ground and feel the stability and support of the Earth energy.  While you're at it, perhaps you might find yourself admiring the beauty of your surroundings, or you might find your mood and energy shifting.  Pay attention to this, and if you find yourself feeling better than before, remember that you can do this practice as often as you like. 
In the meantime, for me, it's hard to believe that 2015 is now over and 2016 begins this week!  May our healing journeys continue to unfold and provide us with greater and greater Self-Awareness.  Here's wishing you all a very happy and healthy New Year!!
